Brunel University

Supported for HurleyPalmerFlatt the natural ventilation strategy, predicted the Heating & Cooling Loads of a 7,500m² educational building with auditorium and central atrium creating the IES DTM (Dynamic Thermal Model) and participating in the CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamic) modelling team work.
Also composed for HurleyPalmerFlatt  the overheating study for BB101 (Compliance for ventilation and indoor air quality in British schools) for the mixed mode ventilation.

What the IES model reviewed:

  • The annual school overheating hrs on a test reference weather file
  • If No of hours that internal temperature exceeds 28 C  is < 120 hrs
  • If the difference  between internal and external temperature is <5
  • If the internal temperature is <32 C

Window Opening Regime

Top floor office windows were reviewed with CFD modelling for air circulation competency.
