UK Academies – Overheating Analysis
Modelled in IES and composed the Overheating Analysis Report BB101(Compliance for ventilation and indoor air quality in schools) for Hurleypalmerflatt for the mixed mode ventilation strategy of the academies listed bellow:
- Spires Academy
- Mayfield Academy
- Lasswade Academy
- Eastwood Academy
- Brunel University
Building Bulleting 101 – Ventilation of School Buildings
The purpose of these studies is to evaluate according BB101 the effectiveness of the passive measures and to ensure that the ventilation strategy will avoid the risk of overheating in all non-air conditioned occupied rooms.
The evaluation follow the BB101 overheating criteria according to :
The evaluation follow the BB101 overheating criteria according to :
- the number of hours for which a threshold temperature is exceeded
- the degree to which the internal temperature exceeds the external temperature
- the maximum temperature experienced at any occupied time
Spire’s Academy
Lasswade Academy
Lord’s Hill Academy
Overheating Analysis with DTM
Dynamic Thermal Simulation was employed to check each hour withing the Test Reference Year (TRY) weather data for which the internal room temperatures would comply with the following parameters:
- The No of hours when internal temperature exceeds 28 C (compliance achieved if No hrs< 120)
- The difference between internal and external temperature (compliance achieved if DT<5⁰C)
- The internal temperature upper limit (compliance achieved if T ≤32⁰C)
