Voula Square Competition

Projects

  1. Conceptual
  2. Public Spaces
This is an architectural competition of the suburbian square of Voula, Attica. The general concept was to continue the descent of the trees from the hill and thus scattering plantation among the elements of the new square.

We decided to designing with natural elements just to bring the inhabitants connected with earth, trees, wood, limestone, sand, rammed earth pavement, gravel, grass.

There is an artificial slope at the center of the square to assists the view to the sea from the top. Some basket ball fields, playground, wooden decks, and amphitheatric grades for assembly.

The design of the square is a reminiscence of a pallette where axis, colours, and terrains are connected into a whole
The  diagonal axis at the corners assists the pedestrian to cross it, and vertical roads from the adjacent blocks from  discernible axis and courses that all intersect at the square to form its elements.

This is a collaboration work with Kelly Papakosma and Dimitra Mpouga, 2006
